Build Up Internship - Charlotte at DPR Construction in Charlotte, NC

Summary: DPR Construction is seeking interns for their Build Up High School Internship in Construction Management. Interns will work alongside a project team on a major commercial construction project, gaining hands-on experience in various project functions and developing essential skills for their future careers. Responsibilities: - Be responsible for a range of entry-level construction management assignments, working both alongside mentors and independently - Gain experience setting career and education-related goals, exploring them through mentoring and jobsite assignments, and reflecting on findings through an 8-week Capstone project - Develop presentation skills that will prepare them for future educational and career pursuits, as well as increase confidence in their abilities and leadership capacity - Gain experience communicating, asking questions, receiving feedback, and navigating as a team member in an adult, professional environment Required Qualifications: - Rising high school juniors, seniors or May 2020 grads - Family income below HUD MFI for your county - Legally entitled to work in the U.S - Demonstrated interest in the built environment - Ability to commit to the duration of the internship (8 weeks, 40 hours/week). Dates are flexible to accommodate summer schedules - Ability to commute to a jobsite daily (hours are flexible to accommodate transportation needs) Required Skills: Construction management, Project scheduling, Document control, Quality inspections, Safety training, Site plan updates, Subcontractor coordination, Receiving feedback Benefits: Build Up interns will be paid on an hourly basis.
