Summary: DLR Group is an integrated design firm dedicated to enhancing the human experience through design. They are seeking a Theater Planning and Systems Design Intern for Summer 2026 to assist in the design of performance venues and related systems, collaborating with architects and engineers throughout the design process. Responsibilities: - Collaborate with architects and engineers as part of our integrated design process - Support needs-assessment and early project planning efforts - Assist in providing architects, engineers, and other project planners theatrical design guidance on mechanical, structural, and electrical requirements for performance spaces and performance equipment systems - Support senior staff with project design reviews, documentation, existing conditions/equipment assessment, and other theatrical design work - Learn the tools, technology, and workflow involved with BIM and how today’s designers deliver successful projects - Accompany team members on site visits to project sites to see the real-world results of what you do - Assist in developing concepts, calculations, modeling, drawing review, and project execution - 2D Drafting and 3D Modeling using Autodesk Revit Software Required Qualifications: - Enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, architecture, design, or similar field relevant to the specialty disciplines noted above - Excellent communication, computer, and organizational skills - Good multitasking skills to easily switch between projects while keeping track of tasks - Ability to work in a team environment - A desire to learn about the architecture/engineering design process - Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship - Basic knowledge of typical theatrical production practice - Basic knowledge of performance-related equipment systems such as theatrical lighting, rigging, audience seating, etc.; strong knowledge of at least one system preferred Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with drafting programs such as Revit - Goal oriented with strong skills in problem solving, creativity, and attention to detail Required Skills: BIM, Autodesk Revit Important Skills: Theatrical design guidance, Performance-related equipment systems Nice-to-Have Skills: Multitasking skills, Communication skills, Organizational skills, Teamwork, Problem solving, Creativity, Attention to detail Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Wellness programs, Flex spending, Paid holidays, Paid time off, 401(k) plan, Employee stock ownership, Bonus opportunities
