Saint Rose of Lima is searching for a long-term substitute to cover music classes for grades K-8 while our music teacher is away. The position is temporary and is expected to be from August 5-October 2, although flexibility is needed. Experience in music or music education is required.

The Candidate should be able to follow oral and written directions, understand, follow, and at times write lesson plans, establish effective working relationships with staff and students, set the proper tone from the beginning for classroom management. They should be flexible, friendly, and good at establishing a quick rapport with students, maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with students, staff and/or parent information.

The Candidate should be an authentic witness to their Catholic faith, or, if they are not Catholic, support Christian living by word and example.

The Candidate would be expected to attend all faculty and staff in-services, work days, and meetings that fall within the time frame of the position. Candidate must attend an orientation/training session and complete required credentialing requirements (Background check, review of school procedures, etc.) 

The Candidate should have strong collaborative skills, working well with the music teacher in planning lessons. Some lesson planning may be required.

1. Availability Monday-Friday from 7:30-3:30 when school is in session from August 5-October 2. This is a temporary full-time exempt position.
2. Background in music (instrument or voice), fluency in note reading, and understanding of basic music theory.
3. Strong Classroom Management Skills.
4. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
5. Technology skills and ability to integrate technology into instructional experiences.
6. An understanding of the Catholic Faith and the ability to witness to it personally and professionally.

Preferred but not Required

1. Bachelor in Music Education or Early Childhood Education.
2. Valid TN Teaching License with Elementary Education endorsement.
