Job Overview
The Lead/Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for delivering process design and engineering activities across all project phases. The role involves developing process design basis, preparing technical documentation, supporting equipment selection, and ensuring plant safety and operability in line with project and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Process Design Basis
- Apply process design criteria, guidelines, and contract requirements to all process design work.
- Interface with licensors where required, including establishing design basis and evaluations.
- Support all phases of process engineering design.
- Flow Diagrams
- Prepare and review process flow diagrams.
- Ensure flow diagrams accurately reflect sequence, operability, and safety requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for multidisciplinary queries on process flows.
- Maintain consistency with related documents (spec sheets, unit designs, etc.).
- Prepare and review metallurgy flow diagrams.
Equipment Datasheets
- Prepare process and utility equipment specification sheets.
- Develop equipment duty specifications, including complex systems (e.g., reactors).
- Produce detailed design specifications for all equipment.
- Review interdisciplinary inputs for alignment with process design requirements.
- Control Philosophy
- Develop instrumentation process data.
- Support and define control philosophy for complex systems, ensuring safety and process objectives are met.
- Prepare control valve, relief valve, and analyser data.
- Review control system specifications and logic diagrams.
- Evaluate alternative control strategies.
Calculations
- Perform process calculations, specifications, and technical studies.
- Deliver conceptual and detailed design calculations for systems and equipment.
- Ensure all calculations are accurate, structured, and properly documented.
- Equipment Selection/Review
- Review and approve vendor data, bid tabulations, and equipment specifications.
- Assess RFQs and purchase requests for compliance with process, safety, and operability
requirements.
- Ensure consistency between vendor data and overall design documentation.
- Plant Safety/Operability
- Ensure all process engineering activities support safe and operable plant design.
- Identify hazardous substances and ensure systems are designed in accordance with procedures.
- Review plant layouts for safety, accessibility, and operability.
- Support specification of safety systems (e.g., eye-wash stations, safety showers, gas detection).
Requirements
- Extensive experience in process engineering within regulated or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of process design, equipment specification, and control systems.
- Experience with flow diagrams, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Proven ability to perform technical calculations and engineering studies.
- Strong understanding of plant safety, operability, and compliance standard
