Senior Software Developer L1 at Derivco Pty Ltd · Durban

We’re looking for a Senior Developer to design, build, and deliver scalable, high-quality software in a fast-paced, regulated environment. You’ll combine strong engineering fundamentals with modern, AI-augmented development practices to drive delivery, quality, and innovation within your team.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll influence system design, mentor developers, and help shape how we build software.

What You’ll Do

• Design and deliver complex, scalable software solutions end-to-end
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions
• Drive code quality, testing strategy, and CI/CD improvements
• Use and champion AI-assisted development tools responsibly
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews, pairing, and coaching
• Identify and resolve performance issues, technical debt, and architectural risks
• Contribute to production support and incident resolution in a 24/7 environment
• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and Compliance teams to ensure secure, compliant delivery

What You Bring

• 4–6 years’ experience in software development
• Strong proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks
• Experience building multi-service / distributed systems (APIs, event-driven architecture)
• Solid understanding of SDLC, CI/CD, testing practices, and version control (Git)
• Exposure to cloud platforms, observability, and production systems
• Experience working in regulated or high-availability environments is a plus
• Passion for mentoring and growing engineering capability
• Practical experience using AI tools in development workflows (e.g., code generation, debugging)
