Summary: Delta Dental of Michigan is focused on improving oral health through benefit plans and community support. They are seeking an Artificial Intelligence Intern to work on AI solutions and contribute to research and development in a hybrid work environment. Responsibilities: - Work on cutting-edge, enterprise-scale AI solutions that apply Generative AI and machine learning to real-world business problems - Build AI proof-of-concepts, explore emerging AI technologies, and contribute in a dynamic research and development environment - Develop and enhance AI-powered applications, including conversational AI, intelligent agents, and automation workflows - Work with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, embeddings, and AI orchestration frameworks - Integrate AI solutions with backend services, APIs, and data sources in a secure enterprise environment - Gain first-hand experience with modern AI architectures, including agent-based systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model evaluation, and responsible AI practices - Apply fundamentals from Computer Science and AI coursework to practical, production-oriented use cases - Communicate your work effectively to both technical and business audiences Required Qualifications: - Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program - Completed at least one course or equivalent experience involving programming in Python, Java, C++, or other similar languages - Self-motivated and able to contribute in a team setting - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills - Demonstrated programming experience in at least one mainstream language such as Python, Java, or C++ - Interest or experience in AI, machine learning, or natural language processing - Some experience or familiarity with APIs, data processing, or cloud-based systems - Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design fundamentals - Good understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, and commonly used design patterns Preferred Qualifications: - Exposure to OpenAI, LLMs, or AI frameworks (LangChain, OpenAI Agents, or similar) Required Skills: Python, Machine Learning, AI Frameworks Important Skills: Java, C++, APIs, Data Processing Nice-to-Have Skills: Analytical Skills, Problem Solving, Teamwork
