Position Summary:

The Rough Coat Painter Trainee will be responsible for preparing and coating automotive accessory products with airless spray equipment to ensure a high-quality finish and appearance for our OEM and Aftermarket customers.

Accountabilities:

• Airless spray application of 100% solids Rough Coat coating materials to various parts and substrates.
• Complete training in setup, operation and basic troubleshooting / maintenance of Rough Coat spray equipment - including Graco HFR and Fusion Spray Gun(s).
• Complete training to become certified in all HFR/Spray Gun Related Processes directly related to spraying.
• Participate in and sustain all 6S and Lean activities for the assigned work area.
• Support Dee Zee's environmental policy with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste,and acting on environment performance results and findings.

Qualifications:

• 1 year related coating or painting expereince preferred.
• Attention to detail.
• Basic computer literacy is helpful.
• Must be able to wear a company-provided Supplied Air Respirator (SAR) helmet while working in the spray booth/application area.
• Proficiency in operating spray equipment (training provided), and a commitment to meeting strict quality specifications.
• Proficiency in safely setting up paint guns and systems to obtain proper coating coverage on parts (training provided).
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
• Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance products to our customers.
• Ability to verify coating dry film thickness using an electronic thickness gauge (training provided).
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
