Job Description
Summary: Dauch is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Operations Intern to join their team in Oxford, Michigan. This internship offers hands-on experience across various critical areas of manufacturing operations, including Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, and Finance.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with production floor observations, time studies, and process mapping
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives, 5S audits, and continuous improvement projects
- Track key performance metrics such as OEE, downtime, scrap rates, and yield
- Help update standard work instructions and visual management tools
- Support preventive maintenance scheduling and tracking
- Assist in equipment reliability analysis and downtime root cause investigations
- Participate in maintenance planning and parts inventory organization
- Help with CAD drawing reviews, process improvement layouts, and tooling documentation
- Support engineering change orders and new product introduction activities
- Participate in equipment capability studies and process validation
- Assist with inventory accuracy audits and cycle counts
- Support raw material and finished goods tracking
- Analyze supplier performance data and material flow opportunities
- Help prepare cost analysis reports and variance tracking
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting support activities
- Participate in month-end close support and labor cost reporting
- Prepare data visualizations and PowerPoint presentations for leadership meetings
- Coordinate cross-departmental projects and follow up on action items
- Conduct special projects and ad-hoc analysis as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, charts, formulas) and PowerPoint
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and contribute
