Job Description
The Lab Technician supports laboratory operations by performing routine testing, sample preparation, data collection, and equipment maintenance in accordance with established procedures and quality standards. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant laboratory results to support operational, research, or regulatory needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, label, and process samples for routine laboratory analysis
- Perform laboratory tests and analyses following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
- Accurately record test results, observations, and data in laboratory systems or logs
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and safety standards
- Follow all safety protocols, chemical hygiene plans, and PPE requirements
- Assist with quality control (QC) checks and troubleshooting out-of-spec results
- Support audits, inspections, and documentation reviews as needed
- Properly dispose of laboratory waste in compliance with regulations
- Communicate results and issues clearly to supervisors and team members
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; associate degree or coursework in science preferred
- Basic knowledge of laboratory practices and safety procedures
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field
- Experience in a manufacturing, environmental, clinical, or research laboratory
- Familiarity with GLP, GMP, or ISO quality systems
- Experience with lab information systems (LIMS)
- Ability to perform basic data analysis and reporting

- Standing for extended periods and handling laboratory equipment
- Working with chemicals, biological materials, or industrial samples
- Use of required PPE including lab coats, gloves, and eye protection
