Controls Engineer I - ASRS at Daifuku in Bolingbrook, IL

Summary: Daifuku Intralogistics America Corporation is a leading provider of intelligent material handling systems. The Controls Engineer I - ASRS will design control systems and power distribution systems for industrial material handling solutions, ensuring that designs meet customer expectations and project requirements. Responsibilities: - Performs diverse, specialized and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making responsibility - Designs new control systems and power distribution systems for industrial material handling systems and proposes modifications to existing equipment; customizes standard designs based on customer specifications and scope documents - Reviews customer specifications and scope documentation for quotation and clarification - Designs system layouts, schematics, and control devices - Creates control sequence of operation documents to ensure that designs meet customer expectations - Maintains progress schedules that meet project milestones - Prepares schematics and specifications for control panel fabrication - Provides documentation and support to the field wiring team - Creates Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs; configures and implements systems that use the QNX operating system - Works closely with the Software Engineering team to integrate control solutions - Performs on-site commissioning to implement and validate the system design - Leads and directs project work and less-senior team members - Performs process checks and reviews the output by other team members - Travels up to 50% Required Qualifications: - Minimum of bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering or related field or equivalent experience - Experience in engineering design and project execution, preferably in the material handling industry - Experience with various industrial HMI and SCADA systems and QNX OS a plus - Experience with Allen-Bradley controls/controllers, Schneider PLCs, and Omron PLCs a plus - Proficient in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, SharePoint and Visio - Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced result-oriented environment - Ability to interface effectively with internal and external customers, vendors, consulting engineers, architects, and installers Preferred Qualifications: - Ability to speak Japanese is a plus Required Skills: Control Systems Design, Power Distribution Systems, Programmable Logic Control (PLC) Programming, QNX Operating System, Allen-Bradley Controls, Schneider PLCs, Omron PLCs, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Visio, Project Management Benefits: Health/Vision/Dental/401k with match/Pet Insurance, FSA/HSA, Employee Assistance Program
