Engineering Manager - Windows (DESIS) at D E Shaw in Hyderabad

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with deep expertise in Windows and adjacent technologies to lead our Windows Engineering team. You will work closely with global Systems teams to define the technology roadmap, drive delivery, and build scalable, reliable Windows infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Windows engineers; drive technical excellence and collaboration.
  
• Design, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable, high-performance systems based on Windows technologies.
  
• Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  
• Own project execution end-to-end, including planning, prioritization, timelines, and delivery.
  
• Enhance system configurability, observability, supportability, and reliability.
  
• Redesign and upgrade infrastructure to improve stability and performance.
  
• Engage in hands-on engineering work and serve as a technical escalation point.
  
• Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  
• 8+ years of experience working with and managing Windows technologies.
  
• Strong understanding of Windows fundamentals and expertise in multiple areas such as:
  
• Active Directory, ADFS, Azure AD/Entra ID, MS Exchange/EXO, SCCM, SCOM
  
• Hyper-V/S2D, VMware, Kubernetes, or other virtualization/container platforms
  
• Failover Clustering, SQL Server, etc.
  
• Experience designing and implementing secure, performant, and highly available systems.
  
• Strong troubleshooting skills with knowledge of diagnostic tools: ETW, Procmon, WinDbg, Wireshark, etc.
  
• Exposure to PowerShell, Git, CI systems, and modern configuration management tools.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of proven technical leadership managing engineering teams.
  
• Experience handling escalations from Helpdesk, NOC, or business teams, ideally in financial environments.
  
• Familiarity with C# and/or Python.
