Job Description
Summary: CVS Health is dedicated to creating a more connected and compassionate health experience. The Data Engineer role involves designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient data processing and quality management.
Responsibilities:
- Designs scalable and efficient data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into data warehouses or data lakes
- Develops data pipelines that enable efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis
- Implements data validation and quality checks to identify and address data anomalies or errors
- Designs data warehousing and data lake solutions that facilitate data storage, retrieval, and analysis
- Documents data engineering processes, workflows, and systems for reference and knowledge-sharing purposes
- Implements data quality checks and validation processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of the data
- Identifies opportunities to streamline data engineering processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the quality of deliverables
- Provides guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers to help them develop their technical skills and grow in their roles
- Manage and support production platform to ensure the quality, performance, and availability of the services that meets business requirements for various CVS Lines of Business
- Identify, design, and implement engineering process improvements through automating manual processes, optimizing data pipelines, re-designing services for greater scalability
- Required to support an on call 24 x 7 cloud Production Environment supporting and administering products & Services involving platform technologies like GCP, Hadoop, etc
- Work hands-on with customers to develop, migrate, and debug services issues
- Ensure server/process documentation is up to date and appropriate or create documentation where none may exist
- Tier 2 triage, troubleshooting, remediation, and escalation of tickets tied to the product support function
Required Qualifications:
- 0-3 years of experience with Python
- 0-3 years of experience with SQL
- 0-3 years of experience with ETL
- 0-3 years of experience with a major cloud platform (GCP, AWS, Azure)
- Bachelor's degree and equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or related discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in GCP (Big Query, GCS, Pub/Sub, DataProc, Airflow/Composer etc.)
- Hands-on experience with languages like Python, PySpark, SQL, UNIX/Linux scripting to access, extract, manipulate and summarize data
- Experience with Hadoop, HQL or UNIX DB2 helpful
- Strong understanding of query optimization, data structures, transformation, metadata, dependency, workload management, source code management tools i.e. GitHub, PVCS
- Experience with Cloud based tech stack and Cloud components including cluster management, Kubernetes, or other containerized services, storage, and workspace management
- Experience working in multi-developer environment, using version control (i.e. Git)
- Certified Cloud Engineer in Data engineering track: GCP preferred
- Good articulation in communicating complex technical subjects to non-technical audience
- Working experience with automation and orchestration tools
- Knowledge of storage, networking, and IAM services on the cloud (GCP preferred)
- Experience with modern API and microservice patterns
- Knowledge and working experience in agile frameworks like Scrum. Kanban etc
- Familiarity in Healthcare / Insurance industry
