Job Description
Summary: Curia is a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) with over 30 years of experience partnering with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to provide life-saving treatments to patients. The Intern in Downstream Process Development Science will support laboratory activities related to protein purification and bioprocess development, offering undergraduate students hands-on experience in an industrial biopharmaceutical laboratory.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with routine protein purification experiments under supervision
- Learn and support chromatography techniques used in biologics manufacturing (e.g., affinity and ion exchange chromatography)
- Help perform filtration‑related experiments (e.g., depth filtration or membrane filtration)
- Conduct basic laboratory analyses such as SDS‑PAGE and assist with sample preparation
- Prepare buffers, solutions, and reagents following written protocols
- Accurately record experimental observations and data in lab notebooks
- Support general laboratory organization, equipment cleaning, and inventory management
- Follow all safety, quality, and documentation procedures
- Communicate progress and questions to supervising scientists
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Or a related STEM field
- Completion of basic laboratory coursework
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass a drug screen
- May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior academic research, lab course, or co‑op experience
- Familiarity with basic biochemistry or molecular biology techniques
- Interest in biopharmaceutical development or manufacturing
