Job Description:
As a Decorator Mechanic, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of decorating equipment to ensure efficient and high-quality production of beverage cans.
Responsibilities:** * Set up, adjust, and operate decorating machines, including ink systems, varnish application, and curing ovens, to meet production specifications. * Monitor decorator performance, identifying and rectifying issues such as misprints, registration problems, and quality defects. * Perform routine preventative maintenance on decorator equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacement of worn parts. * Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic problems on decorating machinery. * Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure product consistency and adherence to quality standards. * Conduct quality checks on decorated cans, utilizing measuring tools and visual inspection techniques. * Maintain accurate production records, maintenance logs, and inventory of spare parts. * Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, including Lockout/Tagout procedures. * Assist in training new operators and mechanics on decorator operations and maintenance. * Propose and implement improvements to decorating processes and equipment for enhanced efficiency and quality.
Qualifications:** * High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or a technical degree in mechanics, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred. * Proven experience as a mechanic or operator in a manufacturing environment, preferably with experience in printing, decorating, or packaging machinery. * Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. * Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. * Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems. * Basic understanding of electrical systems and controls is a plus. * Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment. * Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. * Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
