SUMMARY
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and business activities of the company within a specific country or geographic region. This role involves strategic planning, business development, team management, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. The Operations Manager will work closely with the global management team to align the country’s operations with the company’s overall strategy.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow all company procedures as established by Saybolt and Core laboratories, including but not limited to HSE Manual, Accounting Policies & Procedures, Saybolt Administration Instruction Letter, IT procedures, Ethics Policy, Saybolt Compliance etc. Must keep the knowledge on these items updated and act accordingly
Ensuring that running of the business is performed in the most efficient manner with continuous effort at improving efficiencies.
Supervises all inspection department work available on board barges, ships and shoretanks and assures the work is performed with the qualified personnel with high safety awareness, who get correct instructions, and are able to work under safe conditions to obtain timely reporting data for our clients
Ensures that all operations are dealt with in accordance to the highest safety standards, the company’s ethical policies and procedures as well as the Saybolt Global Inspection Manual
Collaborate with all departments to improve, align and orchestrate continuous improvement efforts across function and organization.
Assists in ensuring that company targets, schedules and objectives are met.
At any time, the company can assign other duties as deemed necessary. In case of structural changes in tasks and duties, the job description needs to be updated.
Supervises that all field personnel is being monitored, mentored and coached to ensure that their level of service and knowledge gets developed to our best standards
Ensures that all employees are given the necessary training, monitoring and proper training records are being kept.
Has a good understanding of the employee’s performance and updates motivations ready in advance for contract changes.
Responsible for enough workforce with the right qualifications; Indicates when hiring of new personnel is needed and interviews and selects suitable candidates in close consultation with the recruitment specialist of the HR Department.
Organizes and facilitates regular team meetings within the field operations so that regular feedback and improvement points are being discussed and actioned.
Is involved with the Branch Managers when performance issues occur and assures that coaching and development plans are in place and followed, particularly for key positions in the organization.
Consults with manager and head of departments on various operational and organizational matters such as complaints, improvements, targets, schedules, workload versus workforce, planning etc.
Takes responsibility and makes decisions when problems in the field occur, involves all necessary people and solves the problem in the best possible way.
Ensures that all claims shall be communicated to the Branch Manager and that the Saybolt instructions in these matters are followed.
At the request of the Branch Manager, the function can attend meetings with local and international clients and terminals in order to ensure that client satisfaction with the services is monitored and kept at highest standards.
Ensures that all field tools and equipment are used and kept in a good way and good working order and verifies the accuracy of measurement equipment.
Collaborates closely with the SHEQ Manager and local Safety Officer.
Ensures that (safety) regulations are followed with regard to the transportation, handling and storage of samples.
Ensures that the location is operating in line with the required ISO and quality standards.
Ensures timely and regular audits and gives follow up to improvement suggestions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Finance, or a related area.
Minimum of 5 years’ field experience in business development, marketing, sales or related areas.
Related industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE
Strong leadership and people skills.
Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
Sound knowledge of HSE, ISO standards, and regulatory compliance.
Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and accounts receivable.
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong understanding of the country’s market dynamics, business environment, and cultural nuances.
