Job Description
Summary: CoorsTek, Inc. is committed to making the world measurably better through advanced ceramics manufacturing. They are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer Intern to support the design, development, and documentation of mechanical components and prototypes.
Responsibilities:
- Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks
- Assist in basic mechanical design tasks such as concept development, part layout, and design reviews
- Produce prototype components through 3D printing/additive manufacturing and evaluate printed parts for accuracy, fit, and function
- Transform prototypes into usable production ready solutions
- Maintain organized CAD data, drawings, revision histories, and engineering databases
- Support the creation and improvement of design standards, templates, and document workflows
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross‑functional teams to deliver effective mechanical solutions
- Perform fit checks, prototype evaluations, and iterative modifications as needed
- Prepare technical summaries, documentation, and presentations outlining design work and project progress
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Proficiency with SolidWorks (part modeling, assemblies, and drawings)
- Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and engineering principles
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and CAD documentation
- Familiarity with engineering database organization, file management, and revision control processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with cross‑functional teams
- Clear communication and strong technical writing abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with 3D printing/additive manufacturing preferred
- Prior exposure to mechanical design, prototyping, or engineering project work is a plus
