Job Description
Summary: CoorsTek, Inc. is committed to bringing safety, quality, and customer focus to advanced ceramics manufacturing. The R&D Engineer I provides engineering support to material, product, and process development programs, assisting in experiments and project management activities.
Responsibilities:
- Under direct supervision, assists in conducting engineering experiments on new materials, products, processes and/or procedures
- Participates in projects to optimize and improve existing materials, products, processes and/or procedures
- Assists with project plan development, execution and reporting activities to support CoorsTek project management activities
- Assists with documenting work instructions and procedures
- Operates process and test equipment per existing procedures
- Exercises hands-on responsibility for assigned processing and/or analytical equipment
- Works collaboratively under the guidance of more senior engineers with the Operations and Commercial sectors of the company
- Participates in the company’s safety culture and continuous improvement efforts
- Undertakes training to develop skills
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
- Sound basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics and engineering science
- Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Organized, detail-oriented person necessary
- Team player
- Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds
- Metallization of Ceramics
- Ceramic processing and characterization
- Microscopy
- Clean room experience
- Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment in designated areas
- Must be able to lift 50lb
