Job Description
Summary: CooperSurgical is a market leader in the development, production, and marketing of medical devices used to advance women’s health care and minimally invasive surgery. The Summer Engineering Intern will support the engineering team in the development and validation of medical device components, gaining hands-on experience while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support the engineering team in the development and evaluation of medical device components
- Gain hands-on exposure to injection-molded thermoplastics and liquid silicone rubber (LSR) components
- Assist in reviewing and working with 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
- Participate in mold trials, including setup, observation, and documentation of results
- Help analyze component performance and identify opportunities for design or process improvements
- Learn and support the creation and execution of IQ (Installation Qualification) and OQ (Operational Qualification) protocols
- Document test procedures, results, and engineering activities in accordance with company and regulatory standards
- Prepare samples and test articles for mechanical, dimensional, and functional testing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quality, manufacturing, and R&D
- Maintain organized records and ensure compliance with medical device documentation requirements
Required Qualifications:

- Ability to learn quickly and apply new technical concepts in a practical setting
- Willingness to take initiative and ask questions to deepen understanding
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment

- Strong problem‑solving abilities, with the capacity to think quickly and adapt
- Fundamental understanding of materials engineering, especially polymers and elastomers
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD)
- Awareness of basic testing methods (mechanical, dimensional, or functional)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Basic data analysis skills using tools such as Excel or similar software
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, samples, and documentation
- Current college student, majoring in Business or Science, entering their Junior or Senior year
- Minimum GPA requirement, 2.8
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior Internship experience is a plus
