Job Description
Responsibilities
- Qualified candidates have the ability to perform drafting and design in Autocad as well as the capability to read and interpret electric, civil, and structural drawings. Candidates have an understanding and follow all related company engineering specifications.
- Jr designers will be responsible for the design and preparation of drawings related to the addition of new and repair existing facilities in the Con Edison territory.
- Jr. designers will also be aiding Engineers in drafting and updating Company Specifications of the Electrical Distribution System, Underground Structures, and Cable.
- Duties include design of all related structural elements as well as placement and design of electrical equipment as specified in companies specification and procedures.
- Assist in creating Work Requests in the Work Management system for maintenance work on Electrical Distribution System, such as PTO Switch Checks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills the ability to interact professionally with personnel on all levels.
- The working environment consist of both office and occasional field setting.
- Fieldwork may require extensive walking and climbing of ladders bending and entry into manholes confined spaces.
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
- Dedicated, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Flexibility to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED and 2 years Design Work Experience or
- Associate's Degree In Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Selected applicants must have knowledge of electrical theory and/or mechanics of flow, and must be able to perform technical calculations, prepare and interpret technical construction drawings and specifications. Required
- Selected candidates will also demonstrate computer skills, preferably in Excel, Access, Word, AutoCAD/ Microstation or comparable programs. Required
- Applicants must possess good verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent drafting and writing skills are required.
- Driver's License Required
- Must sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for entire shift
- Must have excellent manual dexterity and be able to use hands for entire shift
- Must stand to use operate office equipment for entire shift
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must be able to perform extensive walking and climbing in all weather conditions
- Use of personal vehicle for company business may be required
