Job Description
The Category Management Data Analyst supports the Supply Chain organization by delivering data-driven insights that optimize sourcing strategies, supplier performance, cost management, and contract effectiveness. This role partners closely with Category Leads, Procurement, Finance, and Operations to translate complex supply chain data into actionable intelligence that strengthens negotiation outcomes, improves total cost of ownership, and enhances supplier value. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with business acumen and the ability to convert qualitative supply chain inputs into measurable, quantitative performance indicators.
Responsibilities
- Analyze spend and supplier data across categories to identify cost-saving opportunities, demand patterns, supplier concentration risks, and consolidation opportunities.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to track KPIs such as cost savings, contract compliance, supplier performance, payment terms, and inventory trends.
- Benchmarking: Compare internal purchase prices and payment terms against market benchmarks to provide negotiation power for category leads.
- Translate qualitative supply chain inputs into quantitative metrics, including supplier performance feedback, risk assessments, and contract terms, to support data-driven decisions.
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives by conducting total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses, scenario modeling, and what-if simulations.
- Provide data-driven insights to support contract renewals, renegotiations, and bid evaluations.
- Partner with Finance to validate savings initiatives and forecast category budgets.
- Monitor market indices and commodity trends relevant to utility operations (e.g., energy components, infrastructure materials, fleet, equipment).
- Improve data governance and master data quality within procurement and ERP systems.
- Prepare executive-ready presentations, summarizing analytical findings and recommendations.
- Support risk analysis related to supplier concentration, geographic exposure, and supply continuity.
- Perform other related assignments and tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Preferably in Business, Supply Chain business, Engineering, or other related field and Minimum one year Includes cumulative work or
- equivalent internship/co-op
- experience OR Six months of Con
- Edison co-op or internship
- experience.

- Advanced Excel Capabilities and/or Knowledge of Statistical Software to Analyze and Report Data. Required
- Advanced at Verbal and Written Communication Skills and Strong Analytical Skills. Required
- Basic Knowledge of Key Performance Indicators. Required
- Experienced at Cross-Functional Collaboration. Required
- Proficient at Hosting and Leading Meetings or Workshops. Required
- Proficient at Preparing and Delivering Presentations. Required
- Proficient at Spend, Financial, And Statistical Analysis. Required
- Proficient at Microsoft Office Applications Including Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Required
- Knowledge Of Category Management. Preferred
- Basic Knowledge of Rfx Development and Execution. Preferred
- Basic Knowledge of Supplier Screening and Selection. Preferred
- Basic Knowledge of Project Management; Creating Project Plans and Methodology. Preferred
- Basic Knowledge of Power Bi. Preferred
- Basic Knowledge of Sql and Python. Preferred
- Basic Knowledge of Business Partner / Stakeholder /Supplier Relationship Management. Preferred
- Basic Knowledge of Erp System (Ex: Oracle). Preferred
- Basic Knowledge of Risk/ Opportunity Management. Preferred
- Basic Knowledge of Sourcing and Procurement Processes (Indirect and Direct Spend). Preferred
- Proficient At Market Intelligence Research. Preferred
- Driver's License Required
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds
- Sit or stand to answer a phone for the duration of the workday
- Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
- Ability to read small print and symbols
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be willing and able to travel within Company service territory and supplier locations, some of which may require overnight travel
- Must be available to perform off-hour emergency buyer functions, some of which may require working extended or non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays
