Our Edge Security Technology squad builds, runs and enhances the edge security products and services that protect the CBA Group's internet facing websites, web applications, APIs and perimeter infrastructure from distributed denial of service, web application & API cyberattacks.

The Senior Platform Engineer in Cyber will be reporting directly to an Engineering Chapter Lead working in our cyber engineering team to ensure the scalability, reliability and security of our platforms.
Your work will involve the delivery of complex security initiatives across the group’s platforms and systems. Our mandate is to protect the business’ platforms, systems, data, digital assets, and reputation across our cloud and datacentre infrastructure.
We also support the group in developing innovative and market-leading offerings, which are underpinned by security, privacy, and trust.
Roles & Responsibilities: -
Hands-on experience with Palo Alto XSOAR, Sentinel
Experience in security engineering, detection operations, or security platform use-case delivery
Experience in detection content engineering, including rule development, tuning, false positive reduction, and operationalisation of security use cases
Experience with SOAR playbooks, response automation, and security workflow orchestration
Knowledge of OpenTelemetry or modern observability and telemetry frameworks
Experience with large-scale syslog, event streaming, or enterprise integration patterns
Familiarity with security governance, control requirements, and audit-aligned logging practices in enterprise environments

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team.
8+ Years of relevant IT experience
Strong experience in security platform engineering, with hands-on delivery and operational support of enterprise SIEM, detection, and security telemetry platforms
Proven experience in SIEM / platform transformation programs, including migration or modernisation of legacy or incumbent platforms such as Splunk , Palo Alto XSIAM.
Strong experience with Splunk/Palo XSIAM in enterprise environments, including platform operations, data onboarding, search, content support, and transition planning for future-state platform outcomes
Strong SRE capability, including platform reliability, resilience, observability, service improvement, incident reduction, automation, and operational excellence
Strong DevSecOps experience, including secure engineering practices, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, platform hardening, secrets management, and embedded security controls across delivery pipelines
Strong cloud proficiency across AWS and Azure, including cloud-native services, IAM, logging, network telemetry, and security integration patterns
Experience building and maintaining security data pipelines, including ingestion, parsing, normalisation, enrichment, correlation, retention, and data quality controls
Strong scripting and automation experience using Python, including platform integration through APIs, automation frameworks, and reusable engineering patterns
Strong experience supporting production platforms in complex enterprise environments, including troubleshooting, high-severity incident support, root cause analysis, and problem resolution
Strong knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes and modern platforms troubleshooting practices.
Education Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
