Job Description
Summary: Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is seeking a CCS Technology Service Intern to provide entry-level support and project work within the Technology Services mission. The intern will receive on-the-job training while assisting with the configuration and installation of desktop computers and network devices, as well as documenting technology processes and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Hands on work to configure and install desktop computers and network devices
- Document technology processes and procedures
- When necessary, work with other staff members to diagnose and resolve simple issues involving desktop storage, desktop hardware and other related technologies
- Handle issues to resolution, engaging other staff as needed with minimal supervision
- May be required to walk to remote locations to document or troubleshoot desktop or network issues
- Interact with larger project teams as needed
- Fulfill all internship requirements of the Columbus Zoo, including a final reflection paper
- Represents the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks with honesty and integrity
- Implements sustainable practices in daily tasks whenever possible
Required Qualifications:
- Working toward a high school diploma. Student in good standing
- Shown interest in pursuing a technical school degree in computer science or related field
- Exposure to configuring or building desktop computers
- General knowledge and understanding of computer LAN, WAN and wireless networks
- General knowledge - purpose of anti-virus
- General knowledge of cameras, wireless access points, fiber optic networks and best practice cybersecurity practices
- Ability to effectively engage non-technical users on a routine basis
- Ability to execute work effectively with little direct supervision
- Ability to provide excellent guest service by positively interacting with guests required
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all Zoo team members and contacts regarding company business required
- Ability to adhere to standard operating procedures including but not limited to safety protocols required
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays required
- Possession of a valid State issued motor vehicle operator's license and a good driving record required
- Ability to adhere to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium's drug-free workplace policy including but not limited to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and follow-up treatment required
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal history background check annually required
- Ability to successfully resolve tasks that are requested by remote technology staff
- Ability to multi-task as priorities change
- Willingness to be trained on installing and maintaining computer hardware and software
- Willingness to install/run low voltage/network cable
