Job Description
Colets Health and Fitness, a large independent health club based in Thames Ditton Surrey, are currently looking for a full time maintenance operative able to work varied shifts and support our Maintenance Team Leader.
Role and Responsibilities:
Operations
- Assisting in the day-to-day maintenance of the Club building and areas under the Club’s control including all machinery, lighting, electrical appliances, plumbing and drainage, heating, and air conditioning;
- Assisting in ensuring that pool plant equipment, the water, spa, and surrounds are always in a safe and clean condition. Water testing, Water meter readings, Pool backwashes, Pool tests in plantroom, Shower / Steam room drainage, Pool plant operations (Chlorine and PH)
- PPM checks and maintenance issues prioritized and actioned. System logs updated on WAM computer program
- Assisting in the redecoration and refurbishment of the club as necessary
- Assisting with the receipt of deliveries, stocks and supplies including loading / unloading as necessary
- Assisting in ensuring the security of the building and its contents, paying particular attention to alarms, locks, fire extinguishers and maintaining records where necessary
- To be fully aware of and understand departmental N.O.P.s, E.O.P’s and Club emergency procedures
- Assisting in maintaining records of all work carried out to all equipment within the Club.
- Stock takes
- Understanding of Water Hygiene
- General DIY skills
- Basic computing skills in Excel & Word
- Other ad-hoc support as reasonably requested.
- You must be able work weekends and various shifts

- To work with Line Manager to remain within budget

Qualifications / Educational Requirements:
A Pool Plant Operator qualification is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided to the successful candidate. A background or qualification in an electrical trade would be advantageous but is not essential.
Preferred Skills:
- High levels of attention to detail, the ability to think methodically, prioritisation skills, good communication skills; both internally and with suppliers and third parties.
- Physically fit enough to be able to undertake arduous or difficult tasks (lifting and carrying work will be involved).
- Be always well-presented and polite to members and staff and able to work as part of a team or as an individual (must be self-motivated) have a ‘can do’ attitude, be able to adhere to deadlines and get tasks done when asked for, and above all else a drive to continuously improve and the ability to adapt to various scenarios.
