Summary: Coherent Corp. is a global leader in lasers, engineered materials and networking components, and they are seeking an intern to join their IR Saxonburg team. The intern will gain real-world software engineering experience, working on automated inspection and machine learning projects while collaborating with skilled teams. Responsibilities: - Assess new application ideas in automated visual inspection and machine learning - Research in-house analysis approaches and competitor offerings and propose solutions with recommendations on path forward - Develop, trial, and implement algorithms in automated visual inspection and machine learning - Present findings, with initial recommendation on path forward to production Required Qualifications: - Computer Science/Network Engineering, Engineering, Statistics, Data Analytics, or Mathematics major - Ability to work creatively in multi-disciplinary teams and strive for innovative solutions - Experience programming in some combination of C#, .NET, Python, JavaScript, and/or LabView a must - SQL or database experience a plus - Strong analytical, organizational skills, particularly in neural networks or deep learning, a major plus - Citizen or permanent resident Required Skills: Machine Learning, Software Design, Programming C#, Programming .NET, Programming Python, Programming JavaScript, Programming LabView Important Skills: SQL, Neural Networks Nice-to-Have Skills: Analytical Skills Benefits: Practical experience in emerging technical fields, Collaborating with skilled teams of software engineers, Shadowing, mentoring, and training opportunities with seasoned professionals, Experience and training in small-project management and execution
