Summary: Coherent Corp. is a global leader in lasers and engineered materials, and they are seeking a motivated Silicon Photonics R&D Intern for Summer 2026. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in designing and characterizing silicon photonic integrated circuits while contributing to meaningful projects that support the team's objectives. Responsibilities: - Design and optimize photonics components in various material platforms - Characterize integrated photonics components fabricated in various material platforms - Analyze data and prepare reports - Include any expected presentation, final report, or capstone deliverable Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's Rising Senior (completed 3 years by start) - Majors: Electrical Engineering - Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date - Excellent written and verbal communication - Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed - Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment - Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary - Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings - Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents - Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks - Ability to communicate verbally and in writing - All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
