Summary: Coherent Corp. is a global leader in lasers and engineered materials, seeking an intern for Process Engineering. The intern will focus on creating a Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) for the Pine Brook Cooling Water system and will be trained on the requirements as part of their internship. Responsibilities: - Main focus will be on creating a current Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) of the Pine Brook Cooling Water system - Using software such as Solidworks to create the P&ID, project work might include use of Excel or JMP if startistical analysis is required. Individual will be trained on the Pine Brook diagram requirements as part of their internship - Field trace the existing cooling water system and seek guidance from team in identification of the components as needed - Individual will present their work and updated P&ID to management in a 15 minute presentation at the end of term Required Qualifications: - Candidate should at least be a rising sophomore pursuing a BS degree in mechanical or chemical engineering - Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date - Excellent written and verbal communication - Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed - Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment - Attention to detail and time management - ITAR compliance is required for this position - Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, or protected individual) - Compliance with all applicable export control regulations Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with P&IDs is a plus - Experience with Solidworks is a plus Required Skills: Solidworks, P&IDs Important Skills: Excel, JMP Benefits: Opportunities to connect with fellow interns and colleagues across the organization through virtual and in-person networking events, Team-building activities
