Job Description
Summary: Coherent Corp. is a global leader in lasers and engineered materials, seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Commercial and Operational Data Analyst Intern for Summer 2026. The role involves assisting with a global strategic change management project related to commercial and operational analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with identifying trends, patterns, and insights to support data-driven decisions across the Engineered Materials Group
- Assist with the summary and communication of analysis results within the group
- Help develop, implement, and maintain databases, data collection systems, and other strategic applications which optimize data efficiency and the quality of commercial reporting
- Assist with the preparation of reports, visualizations, and dashboards to present data insights to stakeholders in a clear and actionable way (e.g. Power BI dashboards reports, etc.)
- Monitor data accuracy and integrity, ensuring quality and consistency of data
- Assist project teams comprising of different departments (such as Product Management, Sales, IT, Engineering, Operations) to make document data and processes changes required to optimize processes and outputs
- Write SQL queries to access and manipulate data in relational databases
- Develop scripts (Python, R, etc.) to automate data processing tasks
- Extract data from various sources (databases, APIs, flat files) using appropriate tools and techniques
- Cleanse and transform raw data to ensure data quality and consistency
- Assist with the development of data pipelines to automate data ingestion and processing
Required Qualifications:
- Current College Student, all tracts, rising Junior or above considered Bachelor's / Master's / PhD
- Technical degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Economics considered
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. Excel, SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, VB/VBA, MATLAB)
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed
- Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and time management
- Ability to achieve results both independently and working with others
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in engineering, manufacturing
- Knowledge of machine learning and predictive modeling is a plus
- Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes
- Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date
