Job Description
Summary: CME Group is the world’s leading derivatives marketplace, dedicated to ensuring the accuracy and clarity of its consolidated financial statements. As a Staff Accountant, you will support the financial health of the organization by managing the close process and ensuring precise financial records while coordinating audits and analyzing performance.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain Financial Records: Prepare and record journal entries and perform general ledger reconciliations. You will ensure all work meets internal standards and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
- Coordinate Audits: Work directly with internal and external auditors. You will organize documentation and provide the support necessary to complete audited financial statements
- Support the Close: Help the team meet monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines to ensure financial statements are issued on time
- Lead Special Audits: Take ownership of audits for our non-profit entities and ensure all required government filings are submitted correctly
- Analyze Performance: Partner with stakeholders across the business to review financial trends and variances. You will also support process improvements, new business ventures, and foreign entity audits
- Assist the Team: Provide hands-on support for various accounting projects and ad-hoc requests as they arise
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a similar level of practical accounting experience
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and MS Office products
- Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail
- The ability to communicate clearly and adjust to changing priorities in a professional environment
