Physical Security Intern (Summer 2026) at Cloudflare in Austin, TX

Summary: Cloudflare is on a mission to help build a better Internet, and they are seeking a Physical Security Intern to support their security team. The intern will work on various security initiatives, monitor technical security systems, and assist in developing security procedures. Responsibilities: - Execute a specialized security project over 12 weeks that directly improves Cloudflare’s defensive posture - Support the development of global security operational procedures & documents - Coordinate response to incidents on company premises and/or sites of special interest (e.g., events, etc.) using the appropriate communication methods and tools - Monitor and administrate various technical security systems, including access control, video management, alarm monitoring, PSIM systems, and mass-notification tools - Assist in developing location risk assessments, threat assessments, and incident assessments on various incidents/subjects that may impact the safety and security of Cloudflare personnel, business operations, travelers, physical assets, and intellectual property - Curate and regularly update the global distribution list, location coordinates, and point of contact databases - Support tactical open-source monitoring efforts for offices and events - Work cross-functionally with Legal, People, Engineering, and Finance teams to integrate security into the fabric of the company - Work closely with a mentor who will provide hands-on guidance in your specific security domain - Present your security project to the entire company at the end of the internship - Connect and learn from our executives and leadership team including our co-founders - Write for our Cloudflare blog and be featured on Cloudflare.tv sessions Required Qualifications: - Pursuing a degree in International Affairs, Business, Emergency Management, Political Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field - Experience drafting security procedures and templates - Demonstrated critical thinking skills and drive to learn and adapt new technologies - Curiosity, empathy and ability to get things done - Ability to commit to a minimum 12 week summer internship - In office 3-5 days a week in the Austin office Preferred Qualifications: - Bilingual is a plus - Demonstrated passion for security & software development, such as personal projects, open-source contributions, or experience with our developer platform using Cloudflare for Students Required Skills: Security procedures drafting, Technical security systems Important Skills: Bilingual, Critical thinking Nice-to-Have Skills: Curiosity, Empathy, Adaptability Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer
