Job Description
Job Overview
Under general supervision, performs inspections of the City's sanitary sewer system and subsurface drainage using closed-circuit television (CCTV) equipment and related technology. Collects, documents, and reports inspection data to support the maintenance and repair of the City's wastewater infrastructure.
Specific Tasks, Duties, & Responsibilities
- Conduct CCTV inspections of sanitary sewer mains and drainage systems.
- Operate specialized inspection equipment and vehicles to perform assigned work.
- Collect, document, and maintain inspection data using computers, GPS equipment, GIS software, and other technology.
- Perform smoke testing of sewer lines and document deficiencies or maintenance concerns.
- Complete work orders, inspection reports, and related documentation.
- Operate hand tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned duties.
- Safely operate City vehicles and equipment, including vehicles towing trailers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Worker Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Louisiana driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to safely operate specialized inspection equipment and related technology.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately enter and maintain records.
- Ability to read maps and interpret GIS or other location data.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform moderate physical labor, including bending, lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around wastewater facilities.
- Ability to safely work in and around traffic, construction areas, and other potentially hazardous environments.
Hours/Scheduling
- Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Subject to on-call duty for emergency response.
- Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
