Job Description
Job Overview
Under general supervision, collects, verifies, and maintains geographic information system
(GIS) data to support the City's infrastructure inventory, mapping, and maintenance
operations.
Specific Tasks, Duties, & Responsibilities
- Collect field data using GPS and GIS equipment.
- Identify, locate, and document City assets and other points of interest.
- Verify the accuracy of field data and resolve discrepancies.
- Update and maintain GIS databases and related records.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to field data collection activities.
- Communicate project progress and field observations to supervisors and team members.
- Safely operate City vehicles, equipment, and technology used in the performance of assigned duties.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Worker Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Louisiana driver's license.
- Experience using GPS or GIS equipment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately enter and maintain electronic records.
- Ability to read maps and interpret geographic data.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow established safety procedures and work practices.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to perform moderate physical labor, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
- Ability to safely operate GPS equipment, computers, and other field technology.
Hours/Scheduling
- Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
