Job Description
Summary: The City of Elmhurst is home to the Elmhurst Public Library, which aims to enrich life in the community. They are seeking a Copy Cataloger to provide accurate copy-cataloging of materials for the library collection.
Responsibilities:
- Searches OCLC for contributed cataloging then reviews, edits, and exports completed bibliographic record for addition to local ILS system
- Searches local ILS database to identify/catalog added copies, new editions of previously held works, and replacements. Evaluates or assigns Dewey Decimal Classification numbers
- Processes library material for addition to collection
- Resolves inconsistencies identified in the local catalog and refers complex cataloging issues to Cataloging Supervisor
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Familiar with library systems
- Flexible and adaptable at using various computer technology platforms
- Demonstrates initiative and attention to detail
- Able to communicate effectively with staff throughout the library
- Demonstrates strong commitment to public service
