Job Description
Summary: Citizens Energy Group is seeking an Engineer (I/II) to join their Plant engineering department, which is responsible for engineering in water production plants and related facilities. The role involves performing design engineering and data analysis, with responsibilities scaling from basic to moderately complex tasks depending on the level of the engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Develops familiarity by reading, understanding, and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and Citizens policies and procedures
- Develops an understanding and complies with the Citizens Quality Program
- Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts
- Contributes to preparation of less complex preliminary engineering deliverables
- Prepare project scope and management for water production and/or facilities
- Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles
- Shares information with others as requested
- Coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership
- Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client’s main interests and drivers
- May provide support to business development or pursuit activities
- Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Continues to learn and remains current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and Citizens policies and procedures
- Begins to apply knowledge and complies with Citizens Quality Program relative to assigned tasks
- Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts
- Prepares moderately complex preliminary engineering deliverables
- Performs complex research and develops recommendations for distribution system optimization
- Assigns tasks and coordinates with other internal/external team members on less complex projects
- Initiates contact with other disciplines as needed to identify and coordinate details of the work
- Actively seeks to understand client interests and drivers through normal client contract and interaction and communication with project leadership
- Applies understanding of client interests and drivers to performance of the work under his/her responsibility
- May provide support to business development or pursuit activities
- Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program or a recognized accredited program in their home country, or sufficient education acceptable by management
- Valid driver's license in the United States, or alternate approved by management. State of Indiana driver's license required within 30 days of first day of employment
- Must have a safe driving record including no history of serious traffic violations, accidents, suspensions/revocations, or DUI/DWI convictions within the last three years
- 2 years of related experience or 1 year of Citizens experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of engineering training program
- Basic knowledge of engineering design and applicable guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline
- Basic knowledge of Citizens Quality Program, construction and constructability practices, and principles
- General understanding and ability to work with computer software in a Windows environment
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting
- Ability to work in office and field environment
- A basic understanding of utility systems
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering design, and applicable guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline
- Intermediate ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned
- Experienced in computer software in a Windows environment, Microsoft Office applications, and Oracle databases
- Detailed understanding of utility systems
