Job Description
Senior Systems Engineer, RF Communications
Based in Market Deeping, Lincolnshire (near Peterborough and Stamford)
Salary from £50,000 - £60,000
When a pilot keys the mic and air traffic control answers, there’s a decent chance the radio carrying that voice was designed a few miles north of Peterborough.
This business has built VHF and UHF ground-to-air radios for more than 50 years. Airports, freight operators and air forces around the world rely on them. They now need a Senior Systems Engineer to keep the next generation of those radios right, from the first requirement to the final acceptance test.
What you’ll actually do
You’ll hold the systems view across the full product lifecycle, working between the hardware, software and RF teams so that what gets built is what the customer needs.
- Break requirements down into functional use cases, then trace them through architecture, design, verification and validation
- Review system architecture and the interfaces between hardware, software and RF
- Keep projects on the V model, through to test, compliance and customer acceptance
- Feed technical risk into the risk management process, and make sure it’s acted on
- Find where products can share common designs and stay compatible across the range
- Work with product, sales, production and service teams to shape future requirements

A systems engineer, or a design engineer who has grown into systems, with a background in communications equipment. You’ve taken products through the whole lifecycle, not just one stage of it. You’re comfortable being the person in the room who asks “how will we prove that?”
