Associate Accountant
Location: Gurugram

An Associate Accountant at Ciena contributes to accurate and compliant financial reporting that supports informed business decisions across the organization. This role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity through disciplined close, analysis, and audit coordination. The position operates in a dynamic, global environment with exposure to cross-functional stakeholders.
How you will make an impact:
Deliver timely and accurate monthly financial close activities, including accrual accounting and variance analysis.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
Maintain and monitor prepaid amortization schedules in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Perform detailed analysis of financial and budget variances to identify key drivers and actionable insights.
Coordinate with statutory auditors by providing reconciliations, documentation, and audit explanations.
Ensure compliance with statutory and tax regulations across reporting activities.
Execute special finance and accounting projects as assigned.
The must haves:
Education: Master’s degree in Commerce OR Bachelor’s degree in Commerce OR MBA in Finance.
Experience: 2+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a multinational company.
Application of ERP systems and Microsoft Excel for financial reporting and analysis.
Application of accounting principles and standards, including IFRS and GAAP.
Nice to haves:
Experience working with Oracle or other large ERP systems.
Exposure to US GAAP and statutory reporting.
Experience supporting statutory audits, tax audits, and preparation of indirect tax and corporate income tax filings.
Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational capability in financial operations.
Effective written and verbal communication in English.
Ability to manage multiple priorities during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles.
Experience addressing inquiries related to revenue, accounts receivable invoicing, and audit processes.
