Job Description
Summary: CIBC is a relationship-oriented bank that is rapidly expanding its presence in the US market. The Analyst or Associate will gain experience in Equity and Equity-Linked underwriting, advisory business, and support senior professionals in executing transactions for corporate clients.
Responsibilities:
- Gain applicable experience in Equity and Equity-Linked underwriting and advisory business as well as Corporate Equity Derivatives, Margin Loans
- Gain exposure to many different types of transactions including IPOs, Convertibles + Call Spreads, cross-border transactions, stake acquisitions and financings
- Draft client presentations, complete internal presentations, and track the equity and corporate derivative markets
- Provide analytical, structuring, research and transaction due diligence support to senior professionals on the Equity Solutions team, helping to win business and execute transactions
- Partner closely with colleagues across divisions including Corporate and Investment Banking, Global Markets, and Risk Management
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of business, economics and/or finance acquired through education and experience
- Strong interest in and knowledge of financial markets and an understanding of Equities, Equity-Linked securities and Derivatives
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements
- An understanding of credit analysis and accounting principles
- Detail-oriented and able to think logically
- Excellent writing and presentation skills with the ability to grasp complex concepts quickly
- Proven ability to contribute to high performance teams
- Willing to work extended hours in a high pressure/high reward environment
- Able to take initiative on and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong preference for candidates with Equity and Equity-Linked experience and an understanding of Corporate Equity Derivative-related concepts
