Job Description
Summary: Christie Clinic's department of Floats is seeking a part-time Patient Service Representative Specialist. The role involves acting as a liaison between patients and medical staff, greeting patients, reviewing and updating demographic and insurance information, and scheduling appointments.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors in an efficient, professional, and courteous manner
- Demonstrate the ability to promptly answer a high volume of phone calls and schedule patient appointments with providers
- Fax signed documents and maintain a file system for Radiology, Physical Therapy, and Cardiology orders, mail order prescriptions, and any other faxed papers
- Prepare patient charts for patient check-in for office visits, labs, etc
- Stamp all papers, results, medical records, etc., and send to HIM to be scanned
- Obtain signatures on corresponding forms and document any other material received or requested into the electronic medical record
- Assist clinical teams as requested and within their scope
- Work on in-basket and work queues
- Assist with obtaining prior authorizations/necessary paperwork for patients
- Participate in departmental huddles
- Perform related work as required
- Provide a check-in process for patients for multiple departments
- Collect Copayments and Prepayments
- Verify and update necessary demographic and insurance information
- Maintain provider schedules
- Keep a neat and orderly work and lobby area
- Maintain relevant office supplies for department effectiveness
- Distribute mail to appropriate staff members
- Schedule referral visits, tests, labs, and appointments, as requested
- Ensure patient completes all paperwork pertaining to the office visit, including insurance information, etc., prior to the patient seeing the provider
- Post any payments, including co-payments, payments toward account balances, collections, etc
- Change the financial class for charges on a patient’s account that need to be filed to update insurance
- Maintain and balance the payment drawer at the end of the day, including cash, checks, and charges
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a medical office setting
