Salary: $120,000–$130,000 annually

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineering Manager to lead quality operations within an aerospace metal-stamping environment. This position is responsible for maintaining the Quality Management System, managing quality engineers and inspectors, supporting aerospace customer requirements, overseeing audits, and ensuring stamped components meet strict dimensional, regulatory, and contractual standards.
The ideal candidate must have strong aerospace manufacturing and metal-stamping experience, along with advanced knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, AS9102 First Article Inspections, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and precision inspection methods.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and manage quality engineers, quality inspectors, technicians, and other quality personnel.
- Maintain and continuously improve the company’s AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Ensure aerospace stamped components meet customer drawings, specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Establish departmental priorities and assign responsibilities based on production schedules, customer requirements, and quality concerns.
- Provide quality oversight for metal-stamping, progressive die, machining, tooling, assembly, and secondary manufacturing operations.
- Review blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, customer specifications, and inspection criteria.
- Oversee AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports and ensure all required documentation is accurate and complete.
- Lead internal, customer, registrar, and regulatory audits.
- Manage nonconforming material, corrective actions, preventive actions, and customer complaints.
- Lead root-cause investigations using 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D, DMAIC, or similar problem-solving methods.
- Develop containment plans and ensure corrective actions are completed, documented, and verified for effectiveness.
- Review and approve control plans, inspection plans, process documentation, work instructions, and quality procedures.
- Support APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, process capability studies, and new-product launches.
- Monitor quality performance metrics, including scrap, rework, customer returns, internal defects, cost of quality, and on-time corrective-action closure.
- Identify trends and implement improvements to reduce defects, improve process capability, and increase customer satisfaction.
- Partner with production, engineering, tooling, maintenance, purchasing, and leadership to resolve manufacturing and quality concerns.
- Evaluate suppliers, review supplier corrective actions, and support supplier-development initiatives.
- Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance programs are properly maintained for inspection equipment.
- Oversee the use of CMMs, optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, pin gauges, surface plates, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Support customer source inspections and respond professionally to customer quality concerns.
- Recruit, train, coach, evaluate, and develop quality team members.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of seven years of progressive quality engineering or quality management experience.
- Previous leadership experience managing quality engineers, inspectors, or technicians.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience is required.
- Metal-stamping or precision component manufacturing experience is required.
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Experience preparing and reviewing AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.
- Advanced ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, MSA, SPC, and process capability.
- Experience leading internal, customer, and third-party quality audits.
- Strong experience with CAPA, 8D reporting, root-cause analysis, and nonconformance management.
- Knowledge of precision inspection methods and measuring equipment.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic quality-management or ERP systems.
- Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, or Lead Auditor certification.
- Experience with NADCAP requirements or special processes.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Experience working with defense, aviation, or other highly regulated customers.
- Knowledge of ITAR, export-control, and customer-specific aerospace requirements.
- Experience with CMM programming or advanced dimensional inspection.
- Experience with progressive die stamping, tool and die operations, and new-product launches.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
