Mechanical Design Engineer - Intern at ChargePoint in Campbell, CA

Summary: ChargePoint is a leading company in the electric mobility sector, focused on powering one of the world’s leading EV charging networks. The Mechanical Design Intern will be involved in the product design process, including designing prototype parts, conducting experiments, and documenting test results. Responsibilities: - Design of prototype parts, test fixtures - Design of experiments and engineering validation testing - Documenting test results in reports and presenting findings to the broader organization - Prototype assembly - Creation of engineering documentation in the form of drawings and bills of material - Root cause and failure analysis Required Qualifications: - Actively enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field (Aero, Mechatronics and Thermal concentrations considered) - 3rd year student or beyond with at least 2 prior internships - Prior Experience as an intern, lab assistant, teaching assistant, etc - At least 1 year experience with Siemens NX CAD in prior internship - Experience with shop tools - Excellent, professional communication skills - Knowledge of heat transfer - Knowledge of basic electrical circuits - Ability to perform basic stress/strain analysis - Availability to commit to a full-time internship in a fast-paced professional environment Preferred Qualifications: - Involvement at a deep level in a relevant student design project like SAE Formula-E, Solar Car or Solar Decathlon - Local applicants preferred as relocation assistance is not offered Required Skills: Mechanical Design, Siemens NX CAD, Heat Transfer, Electrical Circuits, Stress/Strain Analysis, Prototype Design, Engineering Validation Testing, Engineering Documentation, Root Cause Analysis, Failure Analysis, Shop Tools
