Engineering Intern (summer 2026) at Charge Robotics in San Leandro HQ

Summary: Charge Robotics is a Series A startup focused on building robots that construct solar farms. The Engineering Intern will work on hardware and software systems for robotic factories, contributing to clean electricity generation while collaborating with a small engineering team. Responsibilities: - Contributing to the design, testing, or manufacturing of mechanical, electrical, or software systems for our robotic factory - Working with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, software, supply chain) on real engineering challenges that affect our production timeline - Documenting your work, creating validation/test procedures, or developing tools/automation to improve our engineering and manufacturing processes Required Qualifications: - Are pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mechatronics, or a related field (graduating 2027 or later) - Have hands-on experience with robotics projects and enjoy building things (personal projects >> coursework) - Are comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with ambiguity and evolving priorities - Are based in or can relocate to the SF Bay Area for summer 2026, and able to work 5 days/week from our San Leandro HQ for 12 weeks - Are excited to work with (and safely climb into) giant robots - Gain satisfaction from personally playing a part in mitigating climate change Preferred Qualifications: - Have experience or coursework in robotics, industrial automation, controls, or manufacturing systems - Are familiar with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), programming languages (Python, C++), or electrical design software - Have worked on projects involving mechanical systems, embedded systems, motor control, sensors, or factory automation - Are comfortable with hands-on work in a shop/factory environment Required Skills: Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Important Skills: Software Development, CAD Tools Nice-to-Have Skills: Team Collaboration, Hands-on Experience, Problem Solving Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer
