Duties and Responsibilities
As a Client Controller, you'll serve as a trusted financial partner to multiple clients, overseeing daily accounting and providing strategic insight into their financial performance with a primary focus on clients operating under Puerto Rico Act 60 tax incentive decrees.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for Act 60 decree holders, ensuring compliance with reporting, audit, and annual report requirements
• Monitor and document client adherence to Act 60 decree conditions, including employment thresholds, investment requirements, and charitable contribution obligations
• Manage all day-to-day accounting operations for assigned clients
• Oversee Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and cash flow
• Prepare and review weekly, bi-weekly and/or Month-End Financial Statements and Forecasts
• Reconcile General Ledger activity and ensure data accuracy
• Build and maintain client relationships through proactive communication
• Analyze financial trends and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency
• Provide insight on job costing, budgeting, and project profitability
• Assist in implementing automation tools and process improvements
• Work with software like QuickBooks Online/Desktop, Bill.com, and Fathom
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in public accounting or similar role
• Working knowledge of Puerto Rico Act 60 tax incentive programs — including Individual Investors Act (Chapter 2), Export Services (Chapter 3), and related decree compliance requirements — strongly preferred
• Knowledge of GAAP (CPA license a plus)
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Strong communication skills and client-facing confidence
• Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented
• Experience with job and project accounting, commission tracking, or property management systems is a plus
• Familiarity with QuickBooks Online & Bill.com required
