Job Description
Summary: CFD Research is a leading technology solutions provider in various industries including Aerospace & Defense. They are seeking a CAD Technician Intern to support the design, development, and integration of complex systems by assisting with CAD modeling, drawing creation, and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with detailed CAD modeling, drawing creation, and documentation in support of technology development programs
- Support communication between the engineering design team and the production/prototyping facility through the creation of accurate models, drawings, and supporting documentation
Required Qualifications:
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
- Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree, or Technical Certification, in CAD, Drafting, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings and mechanical design principles
- Exposure to manufacturing methods including machining, sheet metal, or fabrication processes through coursework, projects, or hands-on experience
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with ASME drafting standards and basic GD&T concepts
- Experience creating part and assembly models or drawings through academic, personal, or internship projects
- Exposure to prototype fabrication, 3D printing, or machine shop environments
- Familiarity with Technical Data Packages (TDPs) or engineering documentation
- Interest in aerospace or defense hardware development
- Experience working on hands-on engineering or technical projects
