Our Risk Management function enables the Group to take well‑considered risk to support customers, communities and the broader economy. We do this by designing and embedding strong risk frameworks that support sustainable growth while operating within a Board‑approved risk appetite.
Within Retail Banking Services (RBS), you’ll join a team focused on understanding and managing Credit Risk across large-scale retail portfolios, where thoughtful analysis and strong risk discipline help the Bank lend responsibly and support better customer outcomes. With increasing focus on data, automation and emerging risks such as AI and cyber, the team plays a key role in shaping the future of risk management at scale.
You’ll work in a highly collaborative environment, where insights, controls and continuous improvement come together to strengthen resilience, protect customers and support the Bank’s long-term success.
Your Impact and Contribution
As a Credit Risk Analyst, you’ll help turn data into practical insights by supporting the development of risk analysis and reporting tools, including dashboards and analytical applications. You’ll work with large, complex datasets in modern data platforms, including cloud environments, apply statistical techniques and emerging machine learning approaches, and use AI-assisted tools, coding, modelling, documentation and insight generation to improve efficiency and predictability in your analyses. Additionally, you’ll support the ongoing monitoring of credit and broader risk management objectives, collaborating with teammates to deliver high-quality outputs to deadlines in a highly engaged environment. In summary, you may expect to:
Perform data analysis to monitor, measure and manage risks across retail portfolios.
Extract and analyse data using tools such as SQL, R, SAS, Python.
Support the development of risk analysis and reporting tools including dashboards and analytical applications.
Work with large datasets within modern data platforms and cloud environments.
Apply analytical techniques including statistical analysis and emerging machine learning approaches to support credit risk insights.
Leverage AI-assisted tools and analytics technologies to improve efficiency in analysis, coding, documentation and insight generation.
Support the management and monitoring of credit, operational or environmental and social risks.
Assist with risk management projects and initiatives across the Risk Management function.
Work collaboratively with team members to deliver insights and meet deadlines.
Your Skills & Experience
You’re a recent graduate from a quantitative or STEM discipline, with a curious and collaborative mindset and a motivation to source, interrogate, and validate complex data to solve evolving, multifactorial problems.
You translate complex analyses into clear, relevant and actionable insights for different audiences, using sound judgement to tailor the message, timing and level of detail.
You’re committed to continually developing your data analytics competencies, and seek a career where data led insights inform strategic decision making.
In summary, we’re seeking applicants who are:
Degree qualified in a quantitative or STEM discipline, such as Data Analytics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or Engineering, with strong academic performance.
Highly analytically minded, demonstrating a passion for using data to solve real-world problems.
Excellent communicators, able to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
Curious by nature, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, draw meaning from qualitative insights, and identify patterns amid evolving context and nuance.
Passionate about learning and enjoy working in a highly engaged team environment.
Are interested in risk management and motivated to develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Highly adaptable, adept at multidisciplinary context switching, and comfortable managing both changing and competing priorities.
Exposure to complex data analysis, coding, machine learning concepts or AI tools through university study, projects or internships will be highly regarded.
