Job Description
Summary: Caterpillar Inc. is a global team focused on creating stronger, more sustainable communities. The Embedded Software Engineer will support the development of transmission software and controls, engaging in design, development, testing, and collaboration to ensure optimal performance of transmission systems.
Responsibilities:
- Performs the design, development, and enhancement of transmission systems to optimize products and system
- Interact with machine and transmission application leads and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain transmission software
- Integrate common software library modules and source code generated from a code generation tool
- Testing and debugging embedded system software using different tools/methods available to improve code quality and optimize system performance
- Perform laboratory verification of software along with performing Model in the Loop (MIL) testing
- Designing and develop software following defined processes and procedures
- Identifying and addressing areas of product weakness in finished products
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science
- 0 - 3 years of engineering experience
- Experience using MATLAB/Simulink for software development and or C-Hand code
- Knowledge of software tools such as Git, CANalyzer, CANape, Software Debugger
- CAN/J1939 communication protocols
