About the role
River's Bend is looking for a Clinical Supervisor to lead the clinical work of our substance use treatment program. You'll serve as the clinical supervisor of record, guiding our Addiction Counselors and Substance Abuse Technicians and making sure residents get high-quality, well-documented care that meets ASAM criteria for a 3.5 high-intensity level of care.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll supervise and coach staff, oversee assessments and treatment planning, step in on complex cases, and help keep the program running well day to day
What you'll do
• Provide documented clinical supervision to Addiction Counselors and Substance Abuse Technicians, consistent with DDAP requirements (28 Pa. Code Chapter 704).
• Review and sign off on assessments, treatment plans, and clinical documentation for accuracy, medical necessity, and level-of-care fit.
• Observe clinical work and program groups, and give coaching and feedback that helps staff grow.
• Complete and oversee ASAM assessments and confirm placement decisions align with the 3.5 level of care.
• Carry or cover a counselor's caseload when needed to keep care consistent.
• Serve as a clinical resource for intake, admissions, and complex cases.
• Respond to crisis and emergency situations, and take on-call duties when the Facility Director is out.
• Support the Project and Facility Directors in putting state, city, and agency policies into practice.
• Take part in the treatment team and clinical staff meetings.
What you need
You'll need to meet one of the following, consistent with 28 Pa. Code § 704.6:
• Master's degree or higher in a related field (medicine, chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or nursing with a clinical or human services specialty), plus 2 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency, including 1 year working directly with individuals who are chemically dependent.
• Bachelor's degree in one of those fields, plus 3 years of clinical experience, including 1 year working directly with individuals who are chemically dependent.
• Associate degree in one of those fields, plus 4 years of clinical experience, including 1 year working directly with individuals who are chemically dependent.
• Full certification as an addictions counselor by a recognized statewide or other state's board, plus 3 years of clinical experience (including 1 year working directly with individuals who are chemically dependent) and Department-approved core curriculum training in clinical supervision.
You should also bring working knowledge of ASAM criteria, strong clinical judgment and documentation skills, and the ability to stay steady in high-pressure situations. We value initiative, de-escalation skills, ethical conduct, and a real team-first approach.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The role includes evening group supervision two days a month, one Saturday and one Sunday supervision per month, and on-call coverage as needed.
Physical requirements
You'll need to climb stairs, sit for extended periods, bend and kneel, lift and carry materials, and use approved crisis-intervention and safe physical-management techniques during emergencies. Reasonable accommodations are available.
