Construction Foreman A
Full Time · Location: Albany, NY, US
Position Summary:
The Construction Foreman A is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily on-site activities for civil construction projects. This role ensures that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and schedules. The Foreman A provides direct leadership to field crews, supports resource coordination, and serves as a key link between field personnel and project management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct construction crews to ensure productivity, efficiency, and quality of work.
- Interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications to guide daily field operations.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to meet project timelines and production goals.
- Monitor job progress and adjust work plans as needed to maintain efficiency and schedule adherence.
- Enforce all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific requirements.
- Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job site inspections.
- Communicate effectively with Project Supervisors, Project Managers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Maintain accurate records of labor hours, production quantities, materials usage, and daily activities.
- Train, mentor, and support crew members to promote skill development and teamwork.
- Identify and resolve field issues that may impact safety, quality, or project progress.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support project completion.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in civil construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in the use of construction tools and equipment.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Experience:
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with GPS, laser-guided grading, or construction technology systems.
- Experience in heavy civil, site development, or utility construction.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 75 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working on uneven terrain.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Required use of PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe boots) in operational areas.
Work Environment:
- Primarily outdoor construction sites with exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
- Fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
- Work schedules may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends based on project needs.
- Travel between job sites may be required.
