Job Summary The Security/Emergency Response Technician is a critical role at Carolina Meadows (CM), dedicated to ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of residents, staff, and visitors. This position prioritizes proactive security measures and rapid, effective responses to medical emergencies, while also providing responsive support for urgent building or resident maintenance needs. The role demands professionalism, sound judgment, composure under pressure, and the ability to deliver life-saving interventions, such as CPR and basic first aid, in alignment with current certifications. Technicians must safely operate company vehicles and uphold the mission and values of Carolina Meadows.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED. Current CPR and Basic First Aid certifications, maintained as a condition of employment. Completion of onsite, computer-based bloodborne pathogen training (provided by Carolina Meadows) within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter. Strong communication and customer service skills. Basic troubleshooting or handyman experience for addressing urgent maintenance needs. Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate company vehicles. Successful completion of all required background checks and training.
Preferred Education and Experience
1–5 years of experience in security, emergency response, or related fields. Prior work in a healthcare, senior living, or residential setting. CPR & Basic First Aid certification, medical response protocols, and security systems.
Essential Functions
Security Operations: Provides vigilant security for residents, visitors, and employees through regular patrols, surveillance monitoring, access control, and swift incident response to prevent and mitigate threats. Emergency Medical Response: Serves as the primary first responder for medical emergencies by administering CPR, basic first aid, and other life-sustaining interventions through support of CM’s Nurse-On-Call Program until clinical staff or EMS arrives. Maintains readiness through ongoing certification and drills. Responsive Maintenance Support: Responds urgently to building system failures, safety hazards, or resident-reported issues requiring immediate intervention, performing essential repairs or coordinating support to restore functionality and prevent escalation. Additionally, this role supports trash and recycling collection services in the apartment buildings, and other campus buildings as assigned and assists in salt application and snow/ice removal during the winter. Incident Documentation and Communication: Promptly addresses resident, visitor, and staff requests for assistance, particularly in crisis or urgent scenarios, while documenting all incidents, responses, and outcomes using CM’s electronic incident tracking system.
Confidentiality and Compliance: Maintains strict confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA regulations and organizational privacy standards and training, especially when handling sensitive health or personal information. Customer Service Excellence: Provides professional, compassionate, and respectful support to residents, staff, and visitors during routine interactions and crisis situations.
