About Global Enterprise Affairs and the Community Finance Team:

Our teams include Communications, Community Impact and Investment, Community Finance, CRA Strategy and Program Management, the Government and Political Affairs Group, Regulatory Relations, and Strategy and Engagement. Through our teams, we have unparalleled access to a diverse group of motivated changemakers similarly focused on the ingredients for a more perfect future.
Community Finance is dedicated to building inclusive, thriving communities that catalyze opportunity and promote well-being. As a top national affordable housing lender, Capital One leverages its scale to drive lasting social impact. We are actively expanding on this legacy through our Community Benefits Plan (CBP), dedicating over $35 billion to support affordable housing for low-to-moderate-income (LMI) communities over the next several years. To execute this commitment, our team originates debt and invests in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) via proprietary and multi-investor fund structures.
Role Summary:
The Director of Loan and Equity Administration will serve as a critical senior leader within the Community Finance organization, overseeing the end-to-end administration, booking, and servicing of our affordable housing portfolio. This role leads two vital operational pillars: Construction Loan Administration (CLA) and Loan and Equity Operations (LEO), ensuring flawless execution across both debt and equity deals.
As a tenured people leader, you will be responsible for guiding, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing team. You will drive operational excellence, strategic process optimization, and rigorous risk mitigation across the entire loan and equity lifecycle—from initial closing and construction draws through payoff and permanent conversion. The ideal candidate is a seasoned expert in large-scale lending and equity administration, with a strong background in LIHTC or similar community development programs and has the ability to navigate complex systems, influence senior stakeholders, and champion a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Tenured People Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-layered team across the CLA and LEO functions, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
Provide strategic direction, establish clear performance metrics, and deliver continuous coaching to empower team members and drive career progression.
Act as a senior escalation point, guiding the team through complex transactional hurdles, organizational changes, and shifting business priorities.
Loan and Equity Administration (Debt & Equity)
Oversee the comprehensive booking, servicing, and administration of both debt and LIHTC equity assets, ensuring accuracy and compliance from the closing process through payoff.
Direct the strategy and governance around system management (including Advanced Commercial Banking System [ACBS] and Advanced Lease System [ALS]) to maintain flawless data integrity for all monetary and non-monetary transactions.
Ensure the team effectively reconciles portfolios, monitors daily/monthly activity metrics, and executes high-quality reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
Construction Loan Administration Oversight
Provide executive oversight for a large portfolio of construction loans, primarily focused on multifamily LIHTC transactions.
Ensure rigorous due diligence and risk mitigation standards are met during the monthly draw requisition process, including the tracking of budgets, bank-controlled accounts (BCAs), change orders, and equity contributions.
Oversee the full construction loan lifecycle strategy, ensuring seamless execution of permanent loan conversions, extensions, and maturities.
Operational Excellence & Stakeholder Management
Partner closely with senior leadership across Underwriting, Originations, Commercial/Small Business partners, and the broader Commercial Loan Platform to ensure alignment on strategic objectives and process improvements.
Proactively identify operational bottlenecks, design strategic solutions, and drive continuous process improvement initiatives to scale the business efficiently.
Maintain strong risk management and audit readiness, ensuring all internal controls, compliance requirements, and stakeholder needs are met proactively.
Basic Qualifications:
At least 8 years of experience in process or project management
At least 5 years of direct people management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience
Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field.
10+ years of experience working within Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) structures, including both debt and equity transactions.
7+ years of experience leading multi-layered teams (managing managers).
Demonstrated expertise with commercial loan systems of record (e.g., ACBS, ALS).
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and present complex operational concepts to senior executives.
