Job Description
Summary: Hera Technologies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Intern to support their Soft Goods program. This internship offers hands-on experience working with advanced aerospace textile and flexible material systems, collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
Responsibilities:
- Support design, development, and prototyping of soft goods components (e.g., thermal blankets, insulation systems, sewn assemblies)
- Assist in material selection, testing, and evaluation of textiles and flexible materials
- Work with engineering teams to create and update technical documentation, drawings, and work instructions
- Participate in product testing, including environmental and mechanical validation
- Support manufacturing builds, including hands-on assembly and process observation
- Assist in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain organized records of test data, reports, and design changes
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, Textile Engineering, or related field
- Rising junior or senior (or graduate student) preferred
- Basic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work onsite in Ontario, CA for the duration of the internship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest or coursework in textiles, composites, or flexible material systems
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks or similar)
- Hands-on project experience (school, lab, or internship)
- Familiarity with sewing, fabrication, or prototype development is a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
