Summary: Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT) is the world’s largest telematics service provider, dedicated to making roads and drivers safer. The Software Engineer I, Data Engineering will build and maintain the next-gen analytics data platform, focusing on data ownership and transformations to support CMT’s mission of reducing driving risk and preventing crashes. Responsibilities: - Make contributions to the team using proper software and data engineering practices - Assist in solving complex problems and transform them into business solutions - Help design and implement data platform with a focus on maintainability, usability, scalability, reliability, and performance - Implement and maintain ETL pipelines in Spark, SQL, and Python with automated testing based on the requirements - Participate in code and design reviews - Convert business needs and functional specifications into detailed technical specifications for data pipelines and systems - Assist in supporting production issues; this role will be subject to on-call responsibilities (mainly during business hours, as well as occasional nights and weekends) - Follow CMT’s development and operational standards and processes - Complete any additional tasks as they arise Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience and/or certification - Ability to learn quickly and solve complex problems - Ability to collaborate in a team environment - Ability and willingness to participate in the team's on-call rotation - Ability to do general development tasks on Linux and MacOS - Ability to write code in Python and SQL languages - Understanding of Agile development methodologies (specifically SCRUM) - User-level knowledge of issue tracking systems (specifically Jira) - Ability to commute to our Cambridge, MA office 3 days per week Preferred Qualifications: - Some professional engineering experience preferred - Experience with data pipelines preferred - Experience with data platforms such as Databricks - AWS services such as S3, Glue, SNS, SQS, Kinesis, Redshift - Experience creating maintaining Terraform infrastructure-as-a-code, and Jenkins CI/CD pipelines - Containerizing services using Docker - Instrumentation and correlation tracking/statistics with Datadog Required Skills: Python, SQL, Linux, MacOS, Agile development methodologies, SCRUM, Issue tracking systems, Jira, learn quickly, Ability, willingness to participate in on-call rotation, collaborate in a team environment Benefits: Equity may be awarded in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, matching 401k, short-term & long-term disability and parental leave, Unlimited Paid Time Off including vacation, sick days & public holidays, Flexible scheduling and work from home policy depending on role and responsibilities, Summer Fridays, Join one of our employee resource groups: Black, AAPI, LGBTQIA+, Women, Book Club, and Health & Wellness, Comprehensive wellness, education, and employee assistance programs
